When we were
thinking about images for our site someone mentioned how they use this
icon for one of their women's ministries at church.
The icon is called "The Visitation" and it
represents the Holy Theotokos (the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus, in
blue) visiting her kinswoman Elizabeth (in red), the mother of John
the Baptist. You can find more information here. We believe it is an
apropos representation of how we are sisters, bound together by Christ
first and foremost but also bound by our children, the commonality of
motherhood and our striving to love our children as Christ loves us
and treat them accordingly.
We also feel the colors of the icon represent the vibrant
life that we all want to live, fill our homes with and pass on to our
children.
