The E3 2009 event was spectacular with many of the new games and hardware being shown by all the big competitors of the gaming system wars and some amazing games for the computer. One of the firms that were basking in the limelight is Microsoft because they not only introduced new features to their Xbox LIVE and announced some FPS titles, but they also introduced a new but phenomenal accessory that is codenamed Project Natal.

People that attended the E3 event were the first ones to see a demonstration of the Natal Project; however, for those that were not able to go can view the Xbox Natal Video instead. The big series of Xbox Natal videos began with a great teaser where a person interacts with a virtual character showing that voice recognition is one of the features. Then it changed to the game play where the gamer is using his body to be the controller to move his virtual character.

The video then shows a scene where people are watching along as the gamer plays a racing game where the player is in the driver's position holding an imaginary steering wheel to control the automobile. One of the people that are watching all of a sudden joins the game while the player stops at a pit stop and services their car exemplifying the unique form of cooperative multiplayer. This will make multiplayer games even more interactive and exciting to play and can be something that the whole family can enjoy together.

Half way through the video shows a person shows an object in front of the Project Natal's sensor and it scans it so it can be used in the game enabling more customization to be made. Near the end, facial recognition is showed where players can interact with a virtual character and have a conversation.

The next Natal Project Video shows Steven Spielberg in front of an ecstatic audience as he explains how interactive entertainment can be more approachable to the forms of other entertainment that everyone can embrace. He adds that making the technology invisible is the best approach to that which is exactly what Project Natal is meant to do.

There is other Xbox Natal videos that present several prototype games being demonstrated in front of a live audience including games like Ricochet that is very much like breakout, but what makes it unique is that it uses the entire body as a controller. A painting game was also played where players can use their body and their voice to show their personal methods of visual creativity. These demonstrations present the fundamental new capabilities for games that will be made available to the public in the future.

Many other people discussed their thoughts of the project and tried the demos themselves including some famous celebrities like Brittany Snow, Incubus, Sugar Ray Leonard, Paul Rodriguez, and many others. Some people even tried a Burnout Paradise prototype where an imaginary wheel is used to control the car instead. The overall reception of the project was universally positive showing good signs of Project Natal once it finally launches.

Possibly one of the most popular Xbox Natal videos was the "Milo" demo where Peter Molyneux creator of Populous and Black & White shows a presentation of a person using Project Natal to converse with a AI controlled being. This feature will make game more interactive than ever before. As you can probably tell, the Natal will take gaming up to the next level.
