Single Mom Scholarships Awarded $10,000 For College

In today's world scholarship programs are appearing everywhere. These programs are specifically being developed to help those moms that want to return to college and improve their financial predicament. There is a problem that exists, many moms don't know where to look or don't know if they should apply for the fear of being rejected because of the notion that only academically inclined students can obtain these scholarships.

Eligibility for moms is not a problem today in this economic crisis. The scholarship programs have been overhauled to accommodate mothers who would normally not be eligible. Many programs have switched from offering these scholarships solely on academic performance to those who need assistance.

This doesn't mean that money is given to everyone, but for the most part a lot of money is being issued to those who need it. The money that is provided can be used for education and for any type of college, even for an online course, that's not all, some of the money can be allocated for personal expenses, gas, bills or transportation costs.

Be careful about dishonest scholarship programs. There are many programs on the internet that might not be what they seem. There are a couple ways to be sure that you won't be lured into a trap. If asked for credit card or bank account information there could be a problem.

When looking at a website that is offering a scholarship, look at the address to make sure it matches with the site. Does the site have multiple pages and does it list winners? Is there a contact page that allows you to send an email? Is there a specific deadline listed on the site?

There has never been a better time to return to college. The unemployment rate is at an all time high and the economy is not performing well. Private sponsors along with the government want moms to return to college and are helping in every way possible. Getting money for an education comes along not so often.

The experts don't know how long the financial crisis will last. For now it seems that the financial situation is not improving anytime soon. Does this mean that moms should wait to see what happens? No, these programs could end at any time and the economy could make a full recovery in a couple of months. If this happens many of the scholarship programs that are offered right now could be pulled back and not offered.
