Vacation Time In LisbonWritten By Robson BellardinhoOne of the safest cities in Western Europe is Lisbon,
Portugal. When traveling to Europe, tourists often worry about being
pick-pocketed while in major metropolises. Lisbon has the least amount
of violent crime compared to other major European metropolises, and actually
has the best value for your money. You can stay in the most luxurious
hotels in Lisbon for an inexpensive amount.
With so much exploring to do, you will never get bored in Lisbon. Being the closest European city from the United States, it is a perfect destination for a quick weekend getaway or short trip, plus if you are looking to travel to other major European cities, they are all within about a 2 hour flight. The climate in Lisbon is the best in Western Europe. While other major cities nearby like London and Paris can be freezing at some months during the year, Lisbon enjoys a much warmer weather, even in the winter months where the weather can drop down to 50 degrees at the lowest. Lisbon is blessed with being close to sandy beaches and endless miles of sand dunes, which you can enjoy year round because of the great climate. Swimming and surfboarding is some of the best in the world at beaches like Costa de Caparic and Guincho, just a short 20 minutes away from the heart of the city. You can unwind and lay by the sea during the day while being able to enjoy the vibrant nightlife at nighttime while visiting Lisbon. The picturesque views of the endless sandy beaches and the cobblestone streets throughout the city will satisfy any kind of traveler. A vibrant, rich culture exudates throughout the city with coffeehouses and eateries, stores and museums all within reach. As you are walking through the city you can feel the great lively sense of a caf culture. For great shopping in the city, Rua Augusta is my favorite destination. A lively pedestrian street with mosaic pavements, this outside center features vendors who sell anything to get the attention of tourists passing by, international shops and outside coffeehouses. The main pedestrian street in Lisbon, Rua Augusta is where you would go to get a keepsake or t shirt for your friends back home or if you require upscale shopping as well. A historical Western European capital, Lisbon creates an incomparable setting for tourists and a year round climate that enables you to enjoy activities by the sea as well as the city.
